WiFi Drops
#1
Hi, I have a new D6 and have just started using it. The wifi is causing me problems.

The model is the 2GB + 16GB version

The symptoms are:-
  • When I first set up, I connected to the home wifi and it registered properly with good wifi strength.
  • The wifi image appeared on the TV screen plus on the front of the device
  • Browser will not even show Google home page
  • Playstore will not register
  • YouTube will not display videos
Trouble shooting done to date

- I have tried connecting to my iPhone as a hot spot. This worked well for a few minutes then it completely drops the network and forgets the password
- Did a full factory reset - same problem persists
- Did a firmware re install - firmware from this site - same problem persists
- Did a further full factory reset - same problem persists

Help please

It is well known that these tv boxes have crappy wifi chips. Usually their antennas are not positioned or soldered well internally and their 2.4 Ghz radios are weak. Stick to a wired ethernet connection or mod your box so that an external antenna can be screwed on.
