I have attempted the update process 3 times.  All 3 attempts fail.
The Android System Update starts, and appears to work up until about 1/8th of the bar.
Then the screen turns GREEN and it doesn't do anything further.

I waited about 10min for the last update to attempt to finish, and sadly it did not.
Luckily, the system seems to revert OK to the original FW 5.x.

Please ensure that your instructions are correct?  I followed the tutorial in the thread and every step was the same.

Well, it appears as though I am alone here.

I have reverted back to using my old MyGica ATV520.  At least it doesn't constantly buffer and the sound is in synch watching Netflix and Kodi.
My issues seem to have been all caused by this "faster" Quad Core SmallRt X1.
I guess the old saying is true - you get what you pay for - and $39 is what you need to spend to get crap! Angry

I really wish that someone that represented the company would read this forum and reply.

Buy a usb male to male cable (if you don't have) a try to flash it this way!
Tool with instructions included , here : https://mega.nz/#!vQtgTBLA!7HLGGcvYVBHs3...XiCv2aAskM
Don't forget to install properly the drivers and look for the proper usb hole!
Good luck!

Thanks gatos814,

I downloaded the toolkit as you suggested.
Unfortunately, it asks to use the "reset" button , which this model does not have.

(all other boxes that I have owned have the button somewhere on the unit, but the X1 has none)

I can open it up, but I am more angry that the instructions provided do not work in the first place.
I did make a male to male USB cable for an old M8S box that needed the FW update, so I am familiar with the process.

Did you check inside AV port?

Thanks again Gatos814,

I just wanted to clarify that I was not angry at you - I was angry at the way the manufacturer instructions were provided!  Not your instructions!
I have taken a quick look at the AV port.  It must be common on other boxes that they do this now - bury the reset button in another?

My Pivos boxes and MyGica boxes all have a visible pinhole for reset.

I will attempt this weekend.

I am not quite sure what the issue is with the box.  I am hoping that the upgrade from 5->6 assists in the elimination of these buffering occurrences.
I am just using it with Kodi 17.4 and Netflix.  No other apps.  The Netflix problem was to the point where I just couldn't deal with the horrible voice out of synch issue.
At least with Kodi you can advance or delay the sound to the video track.  Netflix has no such feature as far as I know.

Thanks again, I will let everyone know what the outcome was.

The update worked!

The general instructions worked.  The video link provided was perfect.
The only issue that I ran into was not plugging my Male to Male USB cable into the "correct" port.  It was the one closest to the back.

Other than that, it was a long Boot Logo wait, close to 5 minutes.  I thought that it was bricked.

After installing Netflix, I tested the same video that I originally had audio issues with.  It has been fixed it seems.
I will keep people updated as I see issues arise.

Thanks again,
